Special Alumni Search Organization

Though some colleges have just one organization in reference to alumni, some have special clubs. These clubs usually go by an interest and can be helpful when you can’t find an old classmate. If you knew your old classmate well, you probably are aware of some of their special interests and hobbies, and this might just be a key to finding where they are now.

Some alumni clubs are for minorities. These clubs are formed to help aid alumni with special challenges, and they also support those coming up through the school to make their college experience, and life after graduation, a better one. If your classmate identified with any minority group, you may find that they are active in such an alumni group, or they were at one time.

If your college was big on sports, as many of the larger universities are, you may find your old classmate as a member of any one of the special alumni groups associated with that school. There can be alumni clubs for those involved in any number of sports including football, baseball, cheerleading, volleyball, soccer and basketball, just to name a few. These groups are often active in promoting the sport and some fundraising endeavors.

There are also alumni groups for things like jazz, other types of music, drama, and just about anything else you could imagine. Each school has its own set of clubs or none at all. That is information you can get when you call your school for more help. Some will not be listed in the main alumni association by choice, but they are still members of special clubs due to the benefits that they may get. These include discounts and special events meant only for alumni. It certainly could lead you in the right direction in your search.
